Meet Carolina: Crafting Connections and Kindness at USF CU

4/21/2026

If you’ve been following along, you know that our Humans in Finance series celebrates the people at USF Credit Union who turn everyday banking into something more human, personal and real!

Today, meet Carolina.

She’s been a Member Services Representative and just started a new role as an indirect dealer liaison in loan servicing.

During her time at the credit union, she’s become part of something bigger: a community she genuinely believes in.

And if you ask her what success looks like, she won’t mention numbers or goals. She’ll paint you a picture instead.

A Life Measured in Moments

“I see family… somewhere beautiful, like the beach,” Carolina says. “Just being able to enjoy life and enjoy those moments.”

For Carolina, success isn’t complicated. It’s about being present and surrounded by the people who matter most.

That same perspective carries into how she shows up for USF CU members every day.

The Little Things Are Actually Big Things

Spend a few minutes talking to Carolina, and one thing becomes clear: she notices what others might overlook.

“When people ask you how you’re doing - that’s a big deal to me,” she says. “It takes such little time to check in on someone.”

And in her former role, that human connection goes both ways.

“We’re here to support our members. But when members check on you too… those simple things make a key difference in how we feel.”

Sometimes, it’s as simple as hearing a voice on the other end of the line.

“I hear it at least once a day- ‘It’s so nice to hear from a real person.’”

At USF CU, that’s not a coincidence. It’s the culture.

More Than a Workplace- A Community

Before joining USF CU, Carolina had experience with big banks. And the difference? USF CU is all about culture.

“The community here is so incredible,” she says. “Everyone is kind, friendly, inviting… it’s just amazing to be around. It’s more community-based rather than ‘finish with this person and get on to the next.’”

That shift - from speed to sincerity- is what makes the experience different for both employees and members.

“We genuinely care about getting you the assistance and resolution you need as quickly as possible,” she says. “But we care about you, too.”

A Heart for Kindness

If Carolina had to sum up her philosophy in one sentence, it would be this: “Treat everybody with kindness and move through the world how you would want to be treated.”

It’s exactly what members experience when they interact with her.

Crocheting, Cats, and the Great Outdoors

Carolina describes herself as “pretty boring”- but don’t let her fool you.

Yes, she loves quiet days at home, crocheting, and spending time with her cats. (And yes—crocheting is a skill. Blankets, sweaters, beanies- she can make them all.)

But she also has an adventurous side.

Last year, she traveled to Seattle and hiked nearly 50 miles through mountains and trails.

“I just love being outside,” she says. “I’ll drive out to Odessa or Sarasota just to walk a trail and be in nature.”

For Carolina, it’s about balance. In a world full of screens and constant noise, she believes in something simple: “Sometimes you just need to ‘touch grass’… get fresh air and reconnect.”

A Different Kind of Banking Experience

Carolina doesn’t just feel the difference internally- she sees it in how members respond.

“I’ve had big banks before, and you can definitely feel a difference in service,” she says.

At USF Credit Union, the focus is clear: people first.

Efficiency matters. Innovation matters.

But not at the expense of care.

If She Had a Billboard…

It wouldn’t be about rates or products. It would make you smile.

“I’d probably put a meme on there,” she says, laughing. “Something goofy.” Because sometimes, that’s exactly what people need.

Why This Place Matters

After just one year, Carolina says something that stands out: “I really love this company. I’ve had a lot of different jobs… and this place is really special.”

And when you hear her talk about community, kindness, and connection-you understand why.

Carolina reminds us that Better Banking for All isn’t just about what we do.

It’s about how we make people feel. Seen. Heard. Cared for.

People helping people!

If you’d like to experience Better Banking for All-and be part of a community that truly cares, just like Carolina does every day- become a member and feel the difference today.
